How this wine has evolved. We have listened closely to our market who have indicated their desire for an accessible, smooth and soft wine. A vibrant ruby red colour with prominent red berry (noticeably raspberry) flavours. A hint of white pepper helps to give the wine a smoky, spicy character that works well against the juicy fruit delivery of Cabernet Franc. The wine is named after Peter Pentz, owner of Groote Post, who is affectionately referred to by his children as "The Old Man".

67% Merlot, 19% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc, 4% Shiraz

This wine with fresh rasberry flavours is perfect to be enjoyed with light meat and pasta dishes.

During harvest the different cultivars are kept separate through fermentation and ageing in third fill barrels. After 8 months in wood the different cultivars are tasted separately and selected specially for the style of The Old Man’s Blend.

Wood Maturation: 60% tank fermented, 40% in 3rd fill barrel
