The enormous popularity of The Old Man’s Blend Red established a Groote Post tradition, with The Old Man’s Blend White subsequently added to the range.

Petrol tainted Riesling and some South African responses
My previous article (‘Bad Riesling and unleaded petrol’) posed the idea that the petrol or kerosene smell on aged Rieslings came from poor vineyard practices, specifically over exposure to sunlight. My article was based on a widely-held belief in Australia that the smell (caused by TDN, or 1,1,6,-trimethyl-1,2-dihydronaphthalene) was a fault.

Father Christmas will be entertaining the children and Riaan, the DJ, and the winners of the Feather Boa Talent Search Project, will be playing!

The Darling Spring flowers came and went in a short 3 weeks this year, with nature adjusting itself to the very dry year we have had with yearly rainfall down by 60% to date. On the wines how side it has been anything but a dry year with 5 of our wines getting gold medals at various wine shows.
